Jeffrey Hastings is an individual. A recognized expert on nothingness, he writes about real stuff that crops up in his life with journalistic objectivity tempered by subjective delusion. For example: sometimes, when about to issue a disclaimer, he’ll write about himself in the third person like he’s doing right now. That’s crafty technique! It sets him up nicely, giving his prose an air of objective authority as he proclaims:
The opinions and reflections expressed on this blog are personal works of Jeffrey Hastings. They do not reflect, nor are they associated with Howell Public Schools, School Library Journal or any of Mr. Hastings’ present or former employers.
Including Tops ‘Friendly’ Market.
I was a bag boy there.
Had to wear a bright red vest.
Moved up to night stock, eventually…
Fell in with a bad crowd.
Darn. I totally blew the third person thing, didn’t I?
Blogging is hard.
