Jamie McKenzie has long been one of my favorite educational scholars and leaders. One of his main concerns has been helping educators who teach research skills ensure that their projects serve as assessments that reflect authentic student learning and original thought instead of just being fill-in-the-blanks exercises that students just cut and paste their way through.
When I’m working with classroom teachers on the instructional design of library research projects, I always feel like there’s a little Jamie McKenzie hovering over my right shoulder giving me tips on how to challenge and to inspire discovery through those projects.
Here’s Mr. McKenzie on “Why We Still Need Libraries and Librarians.”
